Embrace - Ashes

Artist: Embrace
Song: Ashes
Album: Out Of Nothing
Year: 2004

"I've waited, and given the chance again, I'd do it all the same, but either way I'm always outplayed, up on your down days, I left it the right way, to start again..."

"Now watch me rise up and leave all the ashes you made out of me, when you said that we were wrong, life goes on, just look how long I've agreed..."

"Out of place, like a gem on a coalface, lost on the right way, it's all the same. 'Cause I've had my hopes raised, riding the wrong waves, scared when you feel safe to start again..."

*A PHRASE: Just like the Phoenix, just like the Phoenix... Hell yeah!
BTW... It's Friday, cheer up!

Pixies - Here Comes Your Man

Artist: Pixies
Song: Here Comes Your Man
Album: Doolittle

Mumm-Ra - She's Got You High

Artist: Mumm-Ra
Song: She's Got You High
Album: These Things Move In Threes
Year: 2007

"She's got you high and you don't even know yet, it's the search for the time before it leaves without you, have you lost your mind or has she taken all of yours too?"

"What's this about? I figured love would shine through, we've lost romance, this world it's turned so see through, open your mind, believe it's going to come true, keep romance alive and hope she's going to tell you..."

*A QUICKIE: It came and kick me right in the nuts... I felt so damn related to it and realized that I've been losing opportunities just because I was being so fucking blind and had my eyes set on something that was going nowhere and I somehow knew it but... I must not have been looking, I must not have been looking, and maybe it is high time I started to open my eyes wide and start looking... But just to be sure and have no 'What ifs' later, I'm going to go until the very end, so, as I said, there is no doubt about it...

Liquido - Play Some Rock

Artist: Liquido
Song: Play Some Rock
Album: At The Rocks
Year: 2000

"...doing some rehearsal, exercising in the cold, lowering the standard for the six-string never rolled, whistling at the girls and saving for the fuel, making plans and knock, knock, knock on wood..."

"Sentenced by our faults that we were to make in time, pleasantly aware of our solitude in mind, saved me from the boredom of what we disavowed, encouraged by the sound that was the sweetest one of all..."

*A COMMENT: Holy Molly! Monday again :S But hey! Here's a good song to get us through the day! I think this song is so nostalgic, I believe it is narrated from the next perspective: there's this guy having reminiscences, perhaps while talking to some friends, about what they used to do when they were younger, about the plans the had together and stuff like that. My guess is that, now that they are older, things turned out differently from what they had planned/expected... U.U He's not the only one... there are many people that feel that way, but that's life... HAVE A GREAT START TO THE WEEK!!! and of course LET'S PLAY SOME ROCK!

"As much as I want to I can't hold onto you, when will you return to your old home again? May love lie around you, good fortune surround you, you know where to turn to when you need a friend..."

"When I am an old man and live by the sea, will all your thoughts fly to me? When I'm far away from the places we've grown, will all your love bring me home?"

*PFFF: Such a beautiful song, it really is, and it totally fits my mood for this Sunday... And amazingly it was a B-Side...

Frightened Rabbit - Backwards Walk

Song: Backwards Walk
Album: Midnight Organ Fight
Year: 2008

"I'm working on erasing you just don't have the proper tools, I get hammered, forget that you exist, there's no way I'm forgetting this..."

"I've been working on my backwards walk, there's nowhere else for me to go except back to you just one last time say yes before i change my mind... say yes before I... You're the shit and I'm knee-deep in it..."

*A COMMENT: July has just begun, so in a way is a good time to start doing some stuff differently, it is a good time for things to start changing and to let them change, but always guiding them so they can change in the desired way... May and June have been crazy as shit and have left me with some conclusions, reflections, lessons, etc. and as July begins it seems that all is becoming a bit clearer in some aspects, at least that's what I perceive, and even though there is the possibility of things to become tougher, for now, at this beginning, they seem to be settling down... So, let's see what the immediate future brings and how I face it... And yay! It's Friday!

Bon Iver - Calgary

Artist: Bon Iver
Song: Calgary
Album: Bon Iver
Year: 2011

"Hip, under nothing, propped up by your other one, face 'way from the sun, just have to keep a dialogue, teach our bodies: haunt the cause. I was only trying to spell a loss..."

*A COMMENT: Here's Bon Iver's new single, from his eponymous album. The meanings of Bon Iver's songs always "trouble" me as he uses so many metaphors, so in a way you can interpret them the way you feel it, but of course there's always like a "defined" path to follow. From this song, which somehow reminds to Sting's 'Fields of Gold', I can take that it is about some couple, but the lady ran out of love or interest, but they remain together. As for the guy, he's always longing for her to love him, but he knows his role, and event though it seems twisted, they know they are together in this, so they just continue the "charade" but in an amicable way, where there's actually affection but nothing more than that, a big affection, but no love...

Hard-Fi - I Shall Overcome

Artist: Hard-Fi
Song: I Shall Overcome
Album: Once Upon a Time In the West
Year: 2007

"New day dawning, I wonder what it holds for me, sun is shining, I don't think that it is shining for me, I look around, nothing seems to have changed, this dirty town, it hasn't some how rearranged..."

"I hear your voice, call my name, but in my heart, It's still pouring rain, and it ain't pretty, no it ain't pretty... But you say "Hold on, hold on, believe me, all the plans against you one by one, will come undone..." I shall overcome..."

*A QUICKIE?: Actually it's gonna be longer ha! I just got my wisdom teeth removed, no big cheeks, just pain inside my mouth, especially the right side, it feels like a really bad bite, like an intense sting, I hope it doesn't get nastier as the numbness disappear. I'm kind of jaded, lately there have been some setbacks and incidentals and almost no time to take care of them... my knees and the respective therapy, the medical paperwork and several payments to be done and now this (and of course the money spent on that :S)... I know maybe I'm whining a bit too much but it feels like something conspired to send this stuff to me all at once and I have got to admit that sometimes I feel all alone, with no one to turn to, besides my intention is not bothering anyone with my issues, I've always been a 'do it yourself guy' in most of the cases, but the truth is that this mad season too shall pass, and as a matter of fact, there have been people that have helped me overcome some of these nuisances and to them I want to send a big big THANK YOU! I really appreciate you cared even when you didn't have to... That being said... HAVE AN EXCELLENT WEEKEND!!

HERE'S THE STUDIO VERSION, SLIGHTLY LONGER AND DIFFERENT... JUST IN CASE

Local Natives - Airplanes/Shape Shifter

Artist: Local Natives
Songs: Airplanes
Album: Gorilla Manor
Year: 2009

"It sounds like we would've had a great deal to say to each other, I bet when I leave my body for the sky the wait will be worth it..."

*A FACT: This song is about his is about the loss of his grandfather, whom he never met, as he passed away before before he was born.

Artist: Local Natives
Songs: Shape Shifter
Album: Gorilla Manor
Year: 2009

"Your eyes, they swell like a riot, deranged, tomorrow you're laughing like a child again..."

"Why does the soul hallucinate? I've got control, I shift my shape, if flesh and bone do not contain the mirrors don't reflect my face..."

*ANOTHER FACT: This time not that accurate, I think that it is a song directed to oneself, by shape they mean moods, it is about how you change mood so abruptly or quickly, some more than others, it is about all the different facets we show...
