Everyday there is a song that goes with us wherever we go, or a song that would fit perfectly in any given situation of our life, or a song that you just haven't heard yet, but you are eager to discover...
Whatever the case may be, this will be a space dedicated to show anyone who runs into this blog, the song that was stuck in my head any given day, the song I would listen to if..., or just to give a simple recommendation of what I think is a worth-listening song...
Artist: Grimes Song: Know the Way (Outro) Album: Visions Year: 2012
"She's giving up the crime, she wink her thieves in line. I know the way, I know the way, can't believe me..."
*FAKE-DATE POST 9: A year ended and it was not as expected. It was just weird, like being bodily present but oh so far away at the same time. It was a summary of the year in just a few hours. I just have to know the way in this ending, I know I just need that. So long, 2012.
"Time to pass you to the test, hanging on my lover's breath, always coming second best, pictures of my lover's chest, get through this night, there are no second chances, this time I might, to ask the sea for answers..."
*FAKE-DATE POST 8: A short and unilateral truce was reached. Suddenly another battle was beginning elsewhere. This time old ghosts began to arise, a quick glimpse of her meant a whole day lost into her.
"Far below a furry moon our purposes crossed the weird divide between our kinds..."
*FAKE-DATE POST 7: Suddenly the hosts began to wonder if in fact they were the actual weirdos. A thought came, a conclusion was made, but still, their minds were troubled.
Artist: Wolf Parade Song: Shine A Light Album: Apologies to the Queen Mary Year: 2005
"I keep my head up tight, I know my plans at night and I don't sleep, I don't sleep, I don't sleep 'til it's light, some folks float, some are buried alive... There is an awful sound this haunted town it will not it will not it will not just be quiet some ghosts sink some will get called to the light..."
**FAKE-DATE POST 6: ...And then the guests began to act like mofos and to demand stuff. The hosts sighed and put up with their crap...
"Tender is the night lying by your side, tender is the touch of someone that you love too much, tender is my heart you know, I'm screwing up my life, Oh Lord, I need to find someone who can heal my mind..."
"I want love to forget that you offended me or how you have defended me when everybody tore me down, yeah, and I want love to change my friends to enemies, change my friends to enemies, and show me how it's all my fault..."
*FAKE-DATE POST 4: Do you ever feel like the quote above? Lately it's been a recurrent topic on my mind.
"All my friends are talkin' about leavin', about leavin', but all my friends are sittin' in their graves..."
"Is it any wonder why we all leave home? People say, "I knew you when you were six years old" And you say, "But I've changed, I've changed, I've changed, I've changed."
*FAKE-DATE POST 3: Yes, they all talk about it, I sometimes think about it too. Some do. Some don't, I just hope I get to do what I want to, what I decide to.
Oh, by the way, it is not the same when you're older and you receive socks...
"You're gonna break somebody's heart that's true, someone's gonna break yours too, you'll laugh in the middle of getting it done and having it done to you..."
"As we roll from the city under the stars on down the boulevard, may God be the first one in the car, may he be the last one out of ours..."
*FAKE-DATE POST 2: When I'm told that he goes with me in my car, sometimes I doubt it and sometimes I joke about it... I guess it is better than a creepy Tibetan guy telling you to calm down... I like the first verse... And trains too.
"I know I have a way of fading when I’m listening, don’t you know I feel you and I freak out..."
*A QUICKIE: This gives me a 'Frenchie' vibe, can't decide if 'Air', 'Phoenix' or Daft Punk's 'Digital Love'... Anyhow, I'm finding this album very enjoyable...
"So everyone gets the waves I made for you, stuck together in a digital glue, envelopes fade out the useless, but you don't have a clue..."
*A COMMENT: So, the world is meant to end today, fine by me. I've always thought this song would be an excellent one to end a concert with, perfect for lengthening the outro, with lights everywhere and people in raptures. HAPPY END OF THE WORLD.
"I've been trying to do it right, I've been living a lonely life, I've been sleepin' here instead, I've been sleepin' in my bed, I've been sleepin' in my bed..."
"So show me family, all the blood that I will bleed, I don't know where I belong, I don't know where I went wrong, but I can write a song..."
*A QUICK ONE: I've never cared much about this song until 20 minutes ago, I heard it on the radio and it grew on me...
Album: The Sound Of The Life Of The Mind Year: 2012
"You might put your love and trust on the line, it's risky, people love to tear that down, let 'em try, do it anyway, risk it anyway..."
"And if you're paralyzed by a voice in your head, it's the standing still that should be scaring you instead, go on and, do it anyway, do it anyway..."
Artist: Sum 41 Song: We're All To Blame Album: Chuck Year: 2004
"And we're all to blame, we've gone too far, from pride to shame, we're trying so hard, we're dying in vain, we're hopelessly blissful and blind, to all we are, we want it all with no sacrifice!"
"I didn't show up today, I only disappeared, a missing detail of how I should feel, the memory has been erased, if you really want to escape you don't belong here..."
"Follow me and I will take you in, finally you get to see what we think..."
*A QUICK ONE: I always get a bit worried when I travel, should I? Can't help it... Anyhow, take care, everyone. See you all soon...
"Well maybe I will, maybe I won't, when I'm done with the thrill, when I finally come home but that's a long way home that is when I finally come away from all the sinking ships, I'm tired of trying..."
*A QUICK NOTIFICATION: I'm short on words, I'm short on time and probably that will be the constant for the next few weeks. So, what should you expect? Late posts, posts with not so many words. Hopefully that won't be the case, but hey! The odds are the odds.
Artist: Foals Song: My Number Album: Holy Fire Year: 2013
"You don't have my number, we don't need each other now, who create all the culture, we can move beyond it now..."
"I don't need your counsel, I don't need this city streets, I don't need a good advice, 'cause we can move beyond it now..."
*A QUICK CLARIFICATION: I was saving this post for 'Inhaler' and for a date which was closer to February 11th, but I heard this one today and I really liked it, so I said "to hell with it, I'm posting it now".
"Far from the electric floor, removed from the red meat market, I looked for a fire door, unescaped from the drums and barking, but after all social charms, I’m struck down by the hand of fear, I've fallen to the corner’s arms, seem weird I, I’m done for years, I’m trapped in a collapsing building, come find me now, we’ll hide out, we’ll speak in our secret tongues, we come back to my corner..."
*A COMMENT: This should be coming out on February 4th (UK) and February 5th (US)... I really liked the quote above or at least the interpretation I've made of it. I think it is about this socially awkward guy that is in this club/party/whatever-social-event-you-want. I would say a club due to the 'electric floor', but it could also refer to any dance floor anywhere else (ie. a wedding, you name it) and it being electric as everyone is moving as if the were being electrified... The 'red meat market' is another reference I liked a lot, as in these environments everyone is a hunting dog, men going after women and vice versa or whatever combination you want, the thing is everyone is going after someone...
Anyhow, he/she feels uncomfortable in this kind of atmosphere, so after all the "mandatory" social codes are done, he ends up frozen with this shyness, hence fear of interacting, alone in a corner wishing the one he/she fancies was there with him/her so an escaped could be made...
