Artist: Gotye
Song: Somebody That I Used to Know (feat. Kimbra)
Album: Making Mirrors
Year: 2011
"You can get addicted to a certain kind of sadness, like resignation to the end, always the end..."
"But you didn't have to cut me off, make out like it never happened and that we were nothing, and I don't even need your love, but you treat me like a stranger and that feels so rough..."
*A COMMENT: It is incredible how successful a song about indifference, disgust and broken hearts can be, and I'm not saying I have anything against those songs, but my point here is that I think that that success is due to the high level of relation people have with them and why is that? Are we bound to have a daunting love situation? I think we are, disregarding the reason, we will always find a let down when it comes to sentimental stuff, either it is of low relevance or not, we will have one, or maybe more... And of course the level of "success" is not only based on the indifferent lyrics, the music has also got to be awesome...
And remember... If you liked it, buy it...
