Everyday there is a song that goes with us wherever we go, or a song that would fit perfectly in any given situation of our life, or a song that you just haven't heard yet, but you are eager to discover...
Whatever the case may be, this will be a space dedicated to show anyone who runs into this blog, the song that was stuck in my head any given day, the song I would listen to if..., or just to give a simple recommendation of what I think is a worth-listening song...
"Sometimes I slide away, silently, I slowly lose myself, over and over, take comfort in my skin endlessly, surrender to my will forever and ever..."
*A QUICK ONE: Whether you like it or not you have got to give it to them, still making music after 30 years, after all they have been through. That's something to admire.
Artist: Ryan Miller (of Guster) Song: Big Machine Album: Safety Not Guaranteed Soundtrack Year: 2012
"Stand straight fall back in line, comb your hair get to work on time, everyone in the big machine tries to break your heart and pull you underneath..."
"Everybody’s talking in their sleep, they push a lot of air around but don’t say much of anything, except when they're laughing like some ghosts under a sheet, everybody’s talking in their sleep..."
*A COMMENT: Yesterday I watched this movie, 'Safety not Guaranteed' and I can say I utterly liked it. And I would have posted this song yesterday, but by the time I watched it I had already posted one. Moreover, before I heard the song in the movie I liked some quotes, paused it, wrote them and save it here as a draft with the intention of writing something about them, then the song came along and Voilà! I got a post.
Now let me give you a quick background. It was shown at 2012 Sundance Film Festival and it was inspired on a classified ad, the one you see on the CD cover, in 1997 as joke.
Anyhow, if you have the chance, watch it, I highly recommend it.
Here are the quotes I liked. The first one somehow describes perfectly the purpose of this blog. I loved it.
"It's not just about a girl, it's about a time and a place... It's that time and that place, and that song, and you remember what it was like when you were in that place and then you listen to that song and you know that you are not in that place anymore and it makes you feel hollow... We can't just go find that stuff again."
"The mission has to do with regret. And the mission has to do with mistakes. The mission’s also about love."
Artist: Vampire Weekend Song: Diplomat's Son Album: Contra Year: 2010
"It’s not right but it’s now or never, and if I wait could I ever forgive myself?"
*AN EXPLANATION: I would really like to write a witty and fruitful comment, but meh! I don't really have something to offer to you. In fact I do, but I doubt you'd be interested in what I have to say, it would bore you and/or depress you and I don't want that. I want you to keep coming back to my blog, even though I don't know if there's a constant "fan base", I think the stats are fine, but sometimes I doubt they're reliable. I tend to think is just the 'Blogger' staff/servers checking I'm not posting something inappropriate or merely spam-bots...
So if you are one who checks this blog constantly, please manifest yourself in the comments, send me an email, or anyway you want, just tell me something, your opinion, your complaints, your suggestions, your musical tastes, a band you've discovered through this blog, or even better, invite me to form a band with you, really, anything would do, just so I know. Thank you...
"Is your memory weak, would you forget if we lose touch? Is it logical to say we don't mean much? Am I lackadaisical, losing motivation for now? I feel like I'll never fall but there're no defenses if I'm right..."
*A SMALL ONE: This was the song I heard there, by there I mean here: 'The 61". I do think I'm lackadaisical... :S
"Feelings you never knew, pulling you under now, your fighting the undertow, before it sucks you down..."
"Come on come on, what are you going to do, you can't find another day, come on come on, you're pushing the senses, you're pushing the senses through..."
"Hey you, see me, pictures crazy, all the world I've seen before me passing by, I've got nothing to gain, to lose, all the world I've seen before me passing by..."
*A CONFESSION: This sluggishness possess my body and to be honest I didn't know which song to post, nor did I care much... So this came up on the shuffle, not bad, not bad.
Artist: Remy Zero Song: In/Out Album: The Golden Hum Year: 2001
"So go out and, make strong your stance, you were the best of them, just breathe out and in, hold me again, 'cause then you're off to them, like the rest of them, you're gone..."
"One night, one flash of brilliant light, I pray you come soon..."
*JUST A REMARK: If you, by any chance, get the opportunity to buy this CD, please do, you won't regret it. Truly, I can bet my left testicle.
"Did they tell you you should grow up when you wanted to dream? Did they warn you 'better shape up if you want to
succeed'?"
"I'm higher than high, lower than deep, I'm doing it wrong, singing along..."
*A COMMENT: It was a weird way back home, but that kind of weird that borders with the nice. Let me explain. It began with the existential thoughts about your direction in life and your elders' advice and I was bit troubled. And then I fell asleep, comfortably asleep. I must mention I was in a bus with 3 people, only 3 people for the whole trip, which made me feel at ease just because I didn't have to worry about malicious entities trying to steal my stuff whenever my guard was down.
Anyhow, my schedule for tomorrow is doing what I couldn't do while I was away. I'm going to make crazy love to both of them, oh, hell yes...
"I've been people-watching again, I think they watch me too, there's a new girl at the coffee house, she's got first day blues..."
"Is she a loner or a mother's girl? That's up to you, she got fine lines round her tired eyes and they're painted blue, she could sleep around with anyone if she wanted to, gotta go my time is up right now, got stuff to do..."
*A LATE POST, BUT WITH A HINT OF THE PRESENT AND FUTURE...
Artist: Cake Song: Commissioning a Symphony in C Album: Comfort Eagle Year: 2001
"Completely filling the palace concert hall, It's warm and golden like an oven that's wide open, It has a melody both happy and sad, Built on Victoria's young triads..."
"You're sitting there thinking your thoughts, they are not about what is but what is not, you are sitting there breathing in your breath, you are seldom breathing life but mostly death..."
"Over the ramparts you tossed, the scent of your skin and some foreign flowers tied to a brick, sweet as a song, the years have seemed short but the days were long..."
"I don't look back much as a rule and all this way before murder was cool but your memory is here and I'd like it to stay, warm light on a winter's day..."
"Long legs, don't give me no head rush in the morning, oh baby, it's bad too bad, I don't think I'll ever see your face again... And I don't wanna lose your love, and I don't wanna choose just one, 'cos I've been having too much fun, oh..."
*AN ALMOST NOTHING: No biggie, nothing in particular, one in particular.
"This wreckage that you believe in me, you could bring it back with a gentle scream, but i need you... In heaven they'll take the best of me, but if i stand right here could you follow me, 'cos i need you, and i need you..."
"I want to see the damage done, I want to see the damage done, I want to see the damage done, I want to live in slow motion..."
*SOME QUESTIONS: You know, I've been thinking. I've been wondering.'What's my share of blame?' that question brought the next one, 'was I pushed away?'
"And pulse to pulse, now shush, she makes the sound the sea makes to calm me down, she makes the sound the sea makes, I'm tired now, she makes the sound the sea makes, knee-deep in the North Sea..."
*A QUICK ONE II: Same situation as yesterday's post. About the meaning, I know it has something to do with sleep, about being lulled...
"We stay up every night, we fade away, but now you're living in a dream, I'm torn apart from the one I love... Oh, my baby, where have you gone? You know I'm sending angels to watch you sleep, 'cause I'm always on the run..."
*A QUICK ONE: I know I posted from this band and from this CD, no more than 3 weeks ago. But truth be told, this CD and the one I'm posting tomorrow (same situation) are the ones that have made the greatest impact, therefore the number of plays and my desire to post a song included in them, again.
