Song: The Pretender
Album: Red
Year: 2009
"I'm a Son Zion, I'm a Presbyterian, used to be a Mayan, now I'm a Republican, I am a believer, praying for a better world, I am an achiever, I'm a Boy and I'm a girl..."
"I'm the Pretender, one with my Avatar, real sweet 'n 'tender..."
*A REFLECTION: Last weekend some data was revealed to me, and suddenly it was clear the nerves that may have been struck there... Also it was revealed (well I already knew but it was confirmed) that something that was supposed to be a BIG issue, suddenly it wasn't that big.
Though it was something to be concerned about by all means, it was bent in such way that it became an attention-seeking whim, a well-thought strategy to give the 'oh poor me, please have some pity for me' impression, and so the next move was to come out as a big, strong, inspirational person in the eyes of all those who only know the mask... In two words: A Victim... Sure, why not? Everyone loves those, it pays off... But coming out as victimized is a double-edge sword and whoever does that must be ready to bear the weight and consequences that come with it, because in the end things will go without saying and you might end up hanging with the ones once called 'slag and stuff' or who knows, maybe alone...
Each one of us is aware of the things that have been done and said and a clear conscience is what prevails among us, no one here is sweating it... Things were not done for the wrong reasons (those used to come out as a victim). I bet everyone would list many different reasons as to why they did what they did, but something can be assured, none of those reasons were the wrong ones, there are no monsters in here... And quick-thinking it, I bet the ego is what hurts the most, rather than the BIG issue, that was just an excuse to shine and be "loved"...
Ultimately, the thing that back us up is that we still have each other and I think that is what bothers the most...
In a world without consequences I would have kicked you by now...
And remember... If you liked it, buy it...
