Everyday there is a song that goes with us wherever we go, or a song that would fit perfectly in any given situation of our life, or a song that you just haven't heard yet, but you are eager to discover...
Whatever the case may be, this will be a space dedicated to show anyone who runs into this blog, the song that was stuck in my head any given day, the song I would listen to if..., or just to give a simple recommendation of what I think is a worth-listening song...
"Politicians, we're their bitches, like their girlfriends in hotels, all the riches, are like crutches to defend the ones that fell..."
"In the commons, when they're joking, don't you know it's at your expense? It's the gallows of the brother, at the cost of someone else and they, they'll be sorry, 'cause it's funny and will show our dissent and we'll show them our dissent..."
*A QUICK WONDER: It is times like these your wonder why the hell this band didn't get recognition and end up disbanded. It is a letdown and you want to drop on the floor, curl into a fetal position, pee on yourself and cry.
Well maybe not that much, but seriously, it really makes me wonder what it actually takes and a whole bunch of variables...
*AN ACKNOWLEDGEMENT: I just wanted to say that I'm truly grateful that I still have my grandparents with me and today was my grandpa's 80th birthday and that just makes me happy.
"'Cause the will to fight gets you slowly dying in the heart of night, how can you survive when the dimmest light barely touched your eyes..."
"This time we will turn around and say the words that make us heal and then we will we will know and never more go back to this..."
*A COMMENT: This post should be for explanatory purposes. See, I used to watch "Smallville" and there was this scene where Clark attends to Lionel Luthor's funeral. In that scene the background song is amazing, truly mind blowing, at least for me.
I spent a fair amount of time researching the name of the song and what I can recall is that it was composed for the episode, a letdown. And then I heard this while at the gym and I was like, 'what the hell, could that be?' It has the same vibe, the piano part is very very similar.
"You know you're not a strong man and you're just about to cry, hang on, hang on it's all right, it's all right..."
"And the dynamite is waiting 'cause they bankrupted the sky..."
*A QUICK ONE: This song really gets me. The lyrics contribute, but the little guitar riff, right before the verses and at the end of the song, is very powerful, it captures the essence of the song perfectly.
"Noise, cars on the freeway attempting a clean break, there's nowhere left to go, watching the room sweep through cracks in the concrete..."
"Plates, they will shift. Houses will shake. Fences will droop. We will awake only to find nothing's the same..."
*JUST SOME WORDS: Will the walls fall? Will they? Because if they don't it's going to be a very long long trip. Or an extremely short one. It will depend on the situations.
Artist: 12 Stones Song: Lie to Me Album: Anthem for the Underdog Year: 2007
"Don't act like an angel, you've fallen again, you're no super hero I found in the end..."
"So lie to me once again and tell me everything will be alright, lie to me once again and ask yourself before we say goodbye, well goodbye, was it worth it in the end..."
*A QUICK ONE: This song was the highlight of my early morning run. In other news, it sucks to be an asshole, but sometimes you have to stand your ground and be one.
"Woke up to reality and found the future not so bright, I dreamt the impossible that maybe things could work out right..."
"I thought it was you who would do me no wrong..."
*A COMMENT: This was meant for Saturday, but then it turned out that no posts were made, you know, I had to fake them, but the result was good because it happened to fit a thought that came to mind, about a flowery-creamy situation with frosting, also known as the 'cake incident', it was THAT, that instead of any other thought that could have come. And I MUST clarify, the title of this song for this situation sounds so exaggerated, but it sets the mood.
I had been busy and distracted the whole day to be even remember, but it was a matter of time, I mean, it was a sure thing I would remember, how could I not?
Anyhow, it is funny how things could turn around so quickly, one moment you are a damn constant and the next moment you just simply are. A good memory, if anything. And perhaps it goes both ways. I don't really know. Yeah, and there's my lack of ability to let things go as well.
Artist: Ra Ra Riot Song: What I Do for You Album: Beta Love Year: 2013
"I want you to survive, anything you need, I hope that heaven finds what you'd done when you made me, I can't get my own feet, not like I want to, only heaven knows, what I do for you..."
Artist: Atlas Genius Song: Trojans Album: When it Was Now Year: 2012
"Take a picture you could never recreate, write a song, make a note for the lump that sits inside your throat, change the locks, change the scene, change it all but can't change what we've been..."
*A QUICK ONE: This is so catchy, but there's a big but, maybe too catchy teenage girls will like it... Hope not, but what is that implying? I'll have to check out the whole album.
"It's good to know that you are home for Christmas, it's good to know that you are doing well, it's good to know that you all know I'm hurting, it's good to know I'm feeling not so well..."
"Because my inside is outside, my right side's on the left side, 'cause I'm writing to reach you now but I might never reach you..."
*A QUICK ONE: So, an acquaintance requested me to post this song on her birthday. So here it is, and like I wrote before, now I feel obliged to congratulate you.. xD
Artist: The Vaccines Song: All In White Album: What Did You Expect From The Vaccines Year: 2011
"Break me on the thirty-seventh hour, tout me, doubt me, show me all of your power, I will watch you rise on my back from the ground, friend or foe? I don't know, do you like what you've found?"
*A COMMENT: I don't really know what to comment because I don't quite grasp the meaning but my two cents are that is about the way we fantasize with someone we like, but the ignorance and the uncertainty make us go both ways, ideal and worst scenarios. And while we build castles in the air with the worst one, we tend to punish ourselves.
Artist: Mumford & Sons feat. Jerry Douglas & Paul Simon
Song: The Boxer
Album: Babel (Deluxe Edition)
Year: 2012
"I am just a poor boy though my story seldom told, I squandered my resistance for a pocket full of mumbles such are promises..."
"Asking only workman's wages, I come looking for a job but I get no offers, just a come on from the whores on seventh avenue, I do declare there were times when I was so lonesome I took some comfort there..."
*JUST A CLARIFICATION: So here's this song. Originally by Simon and Garfunkel and if I'm not wrong, it is actually a track on Jerry Douglas' 'Traveler', but somehow ended here too on the Deluxe Edition and I'm glad.
"It come running, here it come running, where the kids are, here it come running again, slaves are on the horses, princes walk the ground like they're slaves, here it come running, here it come running again..."
*A FEW LINES: What happened today at the 'Boston Marathon' is nothing less than lamentable, and at the same time despicable. Something as pure and sacred as sports stained with the blood of innocent people, I don't understand, just why? A sad day indeed.
"Il visitait la Terre une fois, pour voir le Great Gatsby, et en soirée il le portait, oh quel grand succès, mais après il le cachait au fond dans sa closet, même si c’était invisible Il gardait le secret..."
*A FAKE DATE POST: I'm going to be honest. I've been trying to go to bed earlier than usual, you know, it's a discipline thing. And yesterday with the pure intention of achieving it, I decided to skip the post. But here it is, most likely to be forgotten, but here anyway.
"And if there is nothing more, then nothing more will add us say, there's never been a better day..."
"All this talk is getting me down, nothing's making sense in my brain, I'm moving words in coarse of today, trying hard to fix through the pain, I'm waiting to the thought that we came only to discover I'm aged and blow a quart of love in your frame, and watch things drop down..."
*COACHELLA AGAIN, ON 'YOUTUBE', BETTER THAN NOTHING... AWESOME SONG BY THE WAY, PERFECT FOR LATE NIGHT DRIVING.
"And we'll all float on alright, already we'll all float on, alright don't worry even if things end up a bit to heavy, we'll all float on alright, already we'll all float on, alright already we'll all float on..."
*A QUICK ONE: So, I'm watching Coachella on 'Youtube', I guess it's better than nothing.
"So it goes in one ear and right out the other, people talking shit but you know I never bother, it goes in one ear and right out the other, people talking shit, they can kiss the back of my hand..."
"Now I know I'm not a saint, I've been a sinner all my life, I ain't tryin' to hide my flaws, I'd rather keep them in the light..."
*A COMMENT: So, I'm pissed, very pissed, and I fear that whatever comes out of my fingers at the moment is going to be nasty. So instead of writing nasty shit, I'm going to try and describe that feeling, maybe that will calm me down. The first phase started with a sudden void in the stomach, it kept going with a distant look and chaotic thoughts. The second phase began with the rush of blood, disbelief, the cursing and more cursing. The third phase was the false 'calm down' by sitting down and clenching my fists, I swear I felt the veins on my forehead move. The fourth phase was imagining ideal 'fuck you' scenarios. And the fifth phase was running some personal errands and driving. I would like to close with a reflection. Take things as they come, some people just don't have the moral quality to be spreading shit, throwing hints and insinuations. But let's be aware that everything has a limit, and I'm reaching mine.
