The Cinematics - Race to the City/A Strange Eduaction the

Artist: The Cinematics
Song: Race to the City
Album: A Strange Education
Year: 2007

"Money matters always seem to get you down but money doesn't matter when you're dead, everything will be alright if you just have some fun..."

"Progress feels so good but everything has limits and if you keep this up you'll be back where you started..."

*A COMMENT: This song talks about the modern life, that which is lived in the cities, mostly big cities (but I'm not excluding the small ones, they have their share to some extent), where everything moves so fast and it is so convulsed and money is the main driver and so much importance is given to it, to the point where we become machines in order to earn it and if we don't have it you feel down, whether you don't get to buy what you like or because your struggling with some obligation you acquired. It tries to tell us the city life is so "amusing" to those who don't live there and try to get there, so they can enjoy their share of amusement but then they realized that that city life is a lie as they get caught up within routines, with debts, who knows, frustrating stuff... You spend your life earning money and sacrificing health in the process and in the end you end up spending that money trying to get healthy...

"I'll walk this long road till I find my way home, to somewhere familiar to lay down my bones... The trouble is nothing looks the same, the trouble is I don't think it ever will..."

"The trouble is I don't know what to say, the trouble is I don't think I ever will..."

*A QUICKIE: Oh boy do I feel this song! Yep, I feel it...

And remember... If you liked it, buy it...
