Artist: Doves
Song: The Last Son
Album: The Places Between: The Best of Doves
Year: 2010
"Born to a northern star with the fallow stretching far, I never knew there's another way, I never knew I'd leave this way..."
"Now I'm an older man, trying to accept the person I am, I was born to live this way, I was bound to live this way...
"But I want to see you again, but I guess that's how it goes, you always hurt the love you know..."
*A COMMENT: I guess this song has a trace of resignation, from the perspective of someone who is 'stuck' with the life that was 'assigned' to him, circumstances have been leading him to certain roads, roads he had no other choice but to follow them... I read or heard, don't quite remember, a phrase that goes like this: "It's not about what life gives you, because probably it's not what you expected, what really matters is what you do with what it's given." And in a way this phrase is right, but fuck! I can't help thinking that it also has traces of mediocrity and conformity, I guess it all depends on the eye of the beholder... HAVE A GOOD START TO THE WEEK!
P.S. This song is also included in the 'Kingdom of Rust' album but the 'iTunes' version and since I don't purchase songs there, I put 'The Place Between...' as 'album' since I have the physical version of it...
And remember... If you liked it, buy it...
