Cat Power - The Greatest

Artist: Cat Power
Song: The Greatest
Album: The Greatest
Year: 2006

"Once I wanted to be the greatest, no wind or waterfall could stall me and then came the rush of the flood, stars of night turned deep to dust..."

"Lower me down, pin me in, secure the grounds, for the lead and the dregs of my bed I've been sleeping, for the later parade..."

*A COMMENT: So... I was reading about Chan cancelling her tour due to illness and being broke. It got me thinking. Then read about 'Grizzly Bear' and how they finances, they survive, but there is this sense of not knowing when it all could end. It got me a bit scared.

And I think the stability of you and your act depends on several things, like the music and effort themselves, the kind marketing that is behind you, but also your background and ways. However it is no mystery that the media has been feeding us with this idea of 'wellness' and it is not always the case. And like it is expressed in the ARTICLE"As with any indie band, they know that they’re not supposed to be in it for the money." The least thing one could expect, in a moderate scenario, is to be able to keep doing what you like, comfortably. It is a complex topic and opinions will vary...

Regarding the song, it may seem to be about giving up on the hopes, goals and dreams you once set out reach, due to the obstacles in life that have been, little by little, undermining your will to go.

And remember... If you liked it, buy it...
